Scout day at the Colorado Rockies

We attended a Rockies baseball game on June 16.
We all enjoyed hot dogs, cracker jacks, peanuts, etc. - baseball food is good!

It was scout day at the game, so Janae got to walk around the field with some friends from her girl scout troop.

Plus the Rockies won - which is always good!

Summer Escape

The second week of June, the kids attended Summer Escape (the VBS program at our church). The theme for the week was "The Sweet Life" and the kids had a blast. They learned a verse from the Bible every day, and told it to the "pocket lady" who let them choose a treat from her pocket. (Hey - bribery works - what can I say?) Every day had a wacky theme, and crazy hair day was the favorite - See for yourself...

The kids also sang and danced to many songs - here they are jumping for joy at the finale program on Friday...

A quick trip to the Mountains...

Here's a super picture of the kids at a resort in Beaver Creek. Ken was working in Avon the first week of June, so we drove up and hung out in the mountains for a couple of days. It was windy and even snowed some (which I wasn't exactly prepared for), but we had fun eating out and watching lots of cable TV (which is a special treat). The views were beautiful, even if the weather was slightly unruly.

Janae plays baseball

We signed Janae up with the Longmont Baseball League and little did we know that she would be the only girl on the team. It doesn't seem to bother her - she actually enjoys playing baseball with all the boys - and she can keep up with them pretty well. Next year we might try girl's softball - but for now she's having lots of fun. She plays for the Blue Jays (only they are located in Longmont, not Toronto). So far she's played every position except first base - which takes some practice, and little fear of the ball (which she is working on).

On deck - getting ready to bat.

Up to bat - go Janae!

Getting all the catcher's gear on.

Catcher - look out!

Playing 3rd base.
